Once the whole text was coded for INTERACTION, several interpersonal phases could be seen emerging out of the interpersonal logogenetic patterns thus identified. While the pattern of Orientation – a suggestion that orientates the whole class towards a new course of discourse – tends to serve as a boundary line between different phases, those patterns either across moves or above the move tend to define the various phases. Altogether, five phases can be identified and are described as follows (please refer to Appendix IV).
